In follow up to the statement issued earlier by the club, Chairman, Jonathan Roche would like to pay thanks to the squad and management for their understanding and commitment to the club in offering to take a 25% salary cut to assist the club in these very difficult times.

Jonathan Roche said:

“Having been personally involved in the recent discussions, I would like to pay thanks on behalf of the Board, the membership and all supporters of our club to the players and management for their appreciation of our current economic position with little or no income coming into the club.

This is a special group, a most talented group of players and coaches and to come to us and be prepared to help the club by offering to take a salary reduction is most commendable, in fact it is unprecedented and I applaud and thank each and every one of the group for this tremendous gesture.

As a club we are completely aligned and pay great respect to the squad and management for their understanding and care shown for the club. We would also like to acknowledge and pay thanks for the ongoing support of our Sponsors and Members at this difficult time for all.

As Stephen Bradley said, Shamrock Rovers only exists today because of the dedication and commitment of so many of our great supporters who saved the club from extinction in 2005. In doing what the football department have done today, this group has shown that it too shares the responsibility to safeguard and protect everything that we have worked so hard to build and so we must move to protect the long term interests and ambitions of the football club.

We are in this together and we will come out of it together, stronger.

I would also like to thank our partners in South Dublin County Council, Roadstone Group, main sponsor JD Sports and all our club sponsors for their backing and support through this period.

As stated earlier, the Board will continue to review the cost base at the club and will make whatever decisions are required to sustain the club into the future”.
