Friday’s match in Tallaght Stadium kicks off at 8 pm. The last few tickets are available here.

How disappointed was everyone not to come away from Oriel Park with a result, given the number of chances the team had on the night?

“Yeah, we’re obviously very disappointed. We had a number of chances in the first half to get in at half-time quite comfortable. We didn’t start the first 20 minutes well. They got the first goal and they held on, to be fair, but we had enough chances to go in at half-time up a couple of goals.”

Danny, Richie, Gary and Dylan all nearly scored, including one cleared off the line. Was it hard to believe one didn’t go in?

“Yes, it was. They were all really good chances. The penalty incident, when you see it back, is a really poor decision from the referee. Whether it’s the referee or the linesman on that side, they need to see that. There were a number of chances and the penalty was as clear cut as you’ll get.”

Could the defending have been better for Sean Murray’s goal?

“It definitely could have but to be fair it ricochets through Sean Hoare’s legs as well, so it was unlucky in that aspect. It could have better from our point of view even before it got to Sean Hoare and went through his legs.”

Did you feel our second-half performance dropped a little?

“In the second half it’s difficult because they drop right to the edge of their 18-yard box and the spaces that we were exploiting in the first half obviously weren’t there. So, it becomes a different game. I thought some of our play was good, but that final little bit was just half a yard short or half a yard long. Some of the approach play was really good, the final bit was just lacking and it’s difficult when they defend so deep in the second half.”

Rovers picked up a good win at the Showgrounds a month ago. Are you expecting another hard-fought game with Sligo in Tallaght?

“We’re expecting a tough game, we’ve had tough games all year against Sligo. I don’t expect tomorrow night to be any different. They’ll come to Tallaght to take three points and we’ve got to be ready for that.”

You’ve said that the crowds have been making a difference since they’ve been back, so hopefully that can be the case again and inspire another good performance on Friday?

“The crowds have been brilliant, but I think between now and the end of the season we really need them, to drive this home and pick up as many points as possible towards our target of winning the league. The crowd is going to be really important in that for us. We need them to come out in their numbers, be loud and create a good atmosphere, which they always do. It’s going to be vital between now and the end of the season.”

Is it a big weekend for us with the double header of home games with Sligo and Bohs, in which the target will obviously be maximum points?

“Yes, the target is maximum points over the weekend. We’ll focus on Sligo first and obviously give that game our full attention because that’s what it needs. They’re a good side and a dangerous team. We’ll look to impose ourselves on the game as quickly as possible and try and get three points.”

Could Graham Burke make it back for either the Sligo or Bohs game and are there any new injuries?

“Maybe Bohs but he won’t be back for tomorrow. He’s doing really well so we’ll have a look at it for the Bohs game and hopefully he’s back involved for that one. We’ve a few knocks, like we had last week with Rory Gaffney, but nothing major.”
