Did you think that Dundalk was a rather good game for a 0-0 and was a draw probably a fair result?

“It was definitely an entertaining 0-0. We had quite a number of chances and they had one or two as well. So it was definitely entertaining and on the balance of it, as they got a chance right at the end, I think a draw was probably a fair result.”

Leon Pohls played a couple of games in goal at the end of last season after the title was won but this was probably his biggest one and he got the clean sheet. How did you feel he did?

“He did well. I thought he responsed really well after he made a mistake early on, the one he dropped. That was a real test for him, how he came through that. He looked really calm and confident and he made good decisions. So he did really well after that initial mistake.”

Dundalk’s goalkeeper had a very good game as well, making a number of saves – the one from Aaron’s header especially…

“The one from Aaron’s header was an incredible save and the one from Richie as well was a brilliant save. You could say it just hits him but he obviously has his body in the right position; he’s there for it to hit him. He made some great saves, and, on another night, they go in. For Danny’s one on one, Danny hits it really well but he makes a good save with his feet. He did well for them on the night.”

It meant that we’re still looking for our first away win but what positives did you take away from the performance?

“We created a number of chances and played really well in the second half. We were fully in control of the game in the second half and created a number of chances so there’s a lot of positives to take away from the game. Only for the keeper making some fantastic saves, you win the game.”

Sligo have had a very good start to the season and they’re up in second place. What do you make of them?

“They’ve had a very good start. They’ve conceded two goals and scored quite a few. They’ll come to Tallaght full of confidence I’m sure and be looking to take us on. It has the makings to be a really good game, so we’re looking forward to it.”

And hopefully the attendances will maintain, not just in Tallaght but all around the league because the appetite for live football has been clear and very encouraging?

“It’s brilliant to see around the league and long may it continue. It definitely helps that everybody is taking points off each other early on, it keeps the interest. Long may the crowds continue because it’s fantastic to see right around the league and hopefully it continues in Tallaght on Friday night.”

A break is coming after Friday’s game but how well do you feel we have coped with the hectic fixture schedule, particularly after two tough Bohs and Dundalk games in quick succession?

“I think we’ve done well. The performance up in Dundalk on Monday night, after a tough game, was good. Maybe we were a little bit slow getting started but once we settled, we did well and created chances in the second half. On the whole we’ve done OK. There’s still lots of improvement and lots to come from the group but there have been really encouraging signs early on in the season.”

Alan Mannus and Sean Gannon weren’t involved on Monday. How are they doing?

“Both are fine now. Alan just came down with sickness over the weekend and Sean was the same, he’s missed the last three games with illness. Both are back in training and ready to go.”

Neil Farrugia returned as a sub at Oriel Park and Sean Kavanagh has been on the bench the last couple of games. Is it good to get them back and hopefully get minutes under their belt from Friday onwards?

“It’s great to have them back and have everyone available now because every player in the squad is going to be important and they’ll play their part this year. Ronan Finn is back as well so it’s great to have everyone back and pushing to start.”
