Was everyone delighted to get our first away win of the season in Ballybofey on Friday?
“We were delighted with the win. It’s obviously a tough place to go and they showed that in moments in the game but we’re delighted with the three goals and the clean sheet.”
Do you feel the team’s performances are getting better this season?
“Yes, I think we’ve been saying that for a few weeks that the performances have been getting better and better. The results haven’t always gone with that the last few weeks but it definitely did there. On Friday we had both, which is always nice.”
Andy Lyons was the man of the match again with a really good header and how good was his second goal?
“His second goal was fantastic. Obviously the run but once he gets in the box, the composure as well. It’s a really good finish. The first goal, we know the delivery is there from Jack and Dylan. We just have to hit our areas. Andy did and he gets his rewards.”
Graham Burke made it 3-0 with a late penalty. Although Harps hit the woodwork for a second time in the second half, was the scoreline a fair reflection of how the game went?
“Yes, I think it was. They hit the post early on but in the first half we had a few chances and in the second half we could have scored another couple, so I think it was a fair reflection of the game.”
It must have been great for Sean Kavanagh to come on for a couple of minutes and make his first appearance of the season…
“It’s great to get him back on the pitch. Sean has worked really hard behind the scenes and he’s had to be patient. It was great to have him back Friday and now it’s about building him back in and building up his minutes over the next couple of months.”
Lee Grace came off with an injury, how is he and are there other injuries or suspensions?
“He’s fine, he just went over on his ankle. It was nothing serious at all but it was the right call to take him off. There are no new injuries, everyone’s OK and everyone has trained well.”
Shelbourne have just come up and put together a new squad under Damien Duff. What do you make of them so far?
“I think they’ve been good. I’m sure Damien will feel that they should have more points than they have on the board. They have got a new group and they’re only getting to know each other. They’ve started well and will probably feel that they should have a couple more points on the board that they do.”
It’s Rovers’ first game at Tolka Park in front of fans since an FAI Cup tie in 2017. It’s obviously a ground with a lot of history and we can expect a good atmosphere on Friday?
“We know Tolka, when it’s a full house, it’s a brilliant atmosphere and I’m sure it will be on Friday. Throw in that it’s a Dublin derby and that adds to it. We’ve quite a few of them this year [derbies] – they’re good, competitive games and Friday will be no different. So we’re really looking forward to it.”
