Shamrock Rovers is pleased to announce that Cambridge F.C. has, this week, joined our Academy Affiliate Club Programme
Shamrock Rovers Director of Academy Operations, Simon Friel, said “We welcome Cambridge F.C. as an affiliate of Shamrock Rovers Academy. It was great to be able to meet Scott Foley and his colleagues at Cambridge F.C. and hear about the good work that is going on at the club. Having this affiliation will allow us to work together and support Cambridge F.C. in further developing what they do, with particular emphasis on coaching. I feel this is a special affiliation to have as Cambridge are based close to where Shamrock Rovers was originally founded in Ringsend.
Having recently attended a conference organised by Cambridge F.C. with Jigsaw and Google, it is really positive and encouraging to see a club that values the importance of young people’s mental health and wants to spread this message to other clubs and youth organisations in Dublin. I’m delighted with this affiliation and look forward to seeing the great work that Cambridge does in serving its local community through football.”
David Cassidy, Chairman of Cambridge FC added “This affiliation is great news for the club, the coaches and, more importantly, the players. The historic and deep roots Shamrock Rovers have in Ringsend and surrounding communities make this affiliation even more special. I’m sure both parties will reap the benefits going forward”.
