We bounced back to winning ways last week with our win against Peamount. It wasn’t by the biggest of margins but was the most important thing for you and the team to just get back out there, get the job done and have 3 points heading home to kick off our last run of league games?

“Yes, that was the target. We knew we had to try and do a different kind of style, the pitch was small so we knew it was going to end up being a scrap and more about second balls. It wasn’t going to be about trying to play nice, pretty football, it was about trying to play in good areas and I think the team adapted well to it and went about the job in a good fashion.”

This week we’re faced with the biggest game in Irish football, a Dublin derby against Bohs. The two clubs going head to head is always a huge occasion in itself, but a win for us could see us leapfrog them in the table with a game less played too. Does that prospect of making a move up the table make this game more important?

“Well, that’s what we said together as a group at the end of the Shels game, that the most important thing now is to try and be as professional as we can and try to get maximum points or as many points as we can between now and the end of the season. We’re one for one after last week, so the next one in front of us is the Bohs game and we’re going to go full at it as best as we can. It doesn’t matter that you’re playing Bohs or what their position is in the table in relation to us, it’s about us trying to do our job and try and get up to the proper level that we’re supposed to be at.”

Focusing back on the game itself, Bohs will be optimistic about their chances as they’ve won three games on the bounce ahead of this one. What threatening areas of play do they have that we need to shut down?

“Again, they’re one of those teams that can just pounce on any kind of mistake that you make. They’ve good quality in Katie Molone and obviously Alannah McEvoy that we know from last year, so they have players there that can actually punish any kind of mistakes that you make. But again, we’ll be looking to try and make sure that we’re solid defensively but also trying to have a little bit more about us in going forward.”

It’s been a long season with plenty of games for us but there have been some things that have frustrated you, such as not taking our chances when we create them. Are there other pieces that have been worked on that you hope to see play out this weekend?

“It’s just about being a little bit more solid. We’ve had opportunities where I think we could have passed forward but made a decision to retain possession instead, so we’re going to try and look to see if we can have that first touch forward, that first pass forward, be a little bit more direct at times and trying to mix up our style of play a little bit, trying to add in an extra new dimension.”

It’s an important game for us, so do we have a full squad to pick from this weekend?

“We do, we have a full squad to choose from. We had Ella (Kelly) obviously away with the (Ireland) U17’s in Portugal this week but they come back in tonight (Thursday), so she’s the only one that has been really missing training this week. Apart from that we have a full squad to choose from.”
