Biography
Born in Paris and moving to Dublin at a young age, Neil’s early football education took him through several youth clubs before landing at the UCD youth academy in 2015. His time at UCD was notable, making his senior debut in 2017 and playing a key role in the club’s 2018 First Division title win and subsequent promotion to the Premier Division. Despite attracting interest from Manchester City’s U23 side, Farrugia chose to move to Rovers in 2019.
He became a vital part of the squad that clinched the 2019 FAI Cup and 4 in a row League of Ireland Premier Division titles. Despite struggles with injuries limiting his appearances, his performance levels remained high, earning him a call-up to the Republic of Ireland senior squad for a training camp in 2023. Internationally, Farrugia has represented Ireland at various youth levels, notably scoring on his U21 debut.
