Shamrock Rovers F.C. is pleased to announce the signing of Fiona Owens from Athlone Town AFC. The right-back makes the move to Tallaght ahead of the opening game of the season on Saturday.

Speaking on her arrival at Rovers, Owens said: “I am delighted to sign with Rovers for the 2024 season. The group and staff have made me feel so welcome and I’m excited to get back playing soccer with them after a long-term injury. Hopefully, I can add to the already strong squad and play that they’ve built from last season.”

“I am delighted to add Fiona to our ranks. She is a dynamic and attack-minded fullback who will bring great energy to the team. Beyond her technical abilities, Fiona embodies the mindset and determination that we look for in our players, making her a perfect fit for the team’s ambitions.”

Head Coach Collie O’Neill

A native of Ballinagar, Co. Offaly, Fiona (21) played with Peamount United U17s for two seasons before making the move to the Midlands to join Athlone Town. A regular in the side, Fiona would make 21 league and cup appearances across the 2021 campaign. Fiona was the club’s first choice right back in 20o22 as the team finished runners-up in both league and cup competitions.

All at Shamrock Rovers F.C. welcome Fiona to the Club and look forward to seeing her in action for the Hoops during the 2024 season.
